It’s here! It’s here! Rainbow Falls quilt is finally here! When I made up this pattern a couple of months ago, I had no idea people would be so interested in making a version for themselves. So with a lot of encouragement from friends, I tackled writing this beast.
Rainbow Falls quilt comes in the following sizes: Wall/Large Pillow, Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King. So, truly, there is something for everyone in this pattern.
The pattern includes direct hyperlinks to helpful blog posts, including how I like to sew curves, how to add a zipper closure to a quilted pillow, and how to match up prints along your quilt backing seam.

Rainbow Falls : The Original
The original Rainbow Falls popped into my head one day as I was unpacking boxes from our move. Nothing like mundane housework to get the creative juices flowing! When I saw this bundle from Cottoneer, I knew it had to be used for this pattern.
This cheerful quilt is still waiting to be basted and quilted, but that will hopefully get done soon. I’m going to be using my favorite combination of wool batting + hand quilting on this one for an extra luxe finish.
Rainbow Falls: PB+J
This baby sized version of Rainbow Falls gives me all the peanut butter and raspberry jam vibes. Basically, I was hungry the entire time I worked on this quilt.
The PB+J Rainbow Falls quilt is now a wall hanging above my niece’s crib, so I will have to get a full finished photo of it next time I go visit her. In the mean time, here are a couple of “in progress” photos.
This version of Rainbow Falls is my favorite one I’ve made to date; it gives me all of the retro vibes. Who else had Rainbow Brite sheets growing up?! This version uses 13 Kona Cotton colors. Cottoneer has kitted a version for this quilt, which can be found HERE.
Tester Versions of Rainbow Falls Quilt
I was fortunate enough to have the BEST TESTERS ON THE PLANET for this quilt. Truly, they were all so amazing and provided great feedback. They also made the coolest versions ever of this quilt. Feast your eyes on these versions:
My friend Mykayla made the SWEETEST Rainbow Falls wall hanging. Everything she makes is so magical; her colors choices are outstanding! And how adorable is her house? Mykayla can be found on Instagram HERE as well as on her blog HERE.
Kate, aka Snailcrafts, made the coolest wall hanging with NEXT LEVEL QUILTING. Whoa. This quilting design is going on my bucket list for sure!
The mural she found for this photo is SO COOL! Word on the street is she had to brave grumpy construction workers in order to get this shot. Hats off to you, Kate! You can find Kate HERE on Instagram or on here website HERE.
Joy, AKA themakingsofjoy on Instagram, is the QUEEN of scrappy quilts! She makes scrappy quilting look so effortless. Check out this scrappy goodness! The background of this quilt is even scrappy, which is fantastic!
Krystina, or khquilts as many of you know here on Instagram, whipped up this super luxe neutral wall hanging. I cannot get over the neutral tones and the awesome quilting! HERE is a link to Krystina’s website.
Ashley made not only one baby sized Rainbow Falls, but TWO. And they are equally awesome. She has officially blown me away! Ashely is on Instagram HERE and on her website HERE. I wish we lived in the same country–I know we would be great friends!

Stefanie, AKA satterwhitequilts on Instagram, is a fellow designer who I’ve admired for a long time. She is the half square triangle queen! Truly amazing. I cannot express enough how much I LOVE her version. She used a stripe fabric as the background of her quilt and I am here for it! I can’t wait to try this myself! HERE is a link to Stefanie’s website.
Maechen, AKA maechenmarie on Instagram, is my favorite reusable bag making friend (seriously–I have several of her bags and use them all.of.the.time. They are truly amazing. HERE is a link to Maechen’s website.
It is no surprise she chose AMAZING fabrics and used really amazing dense quilting for her project. She made the large pillow and added piping to it! I cannot wait to see the finished project!
Jamie, AKA sewbrainy on Instagram, created this throw size Rainbow Falls quilt. I love how cheerful her version is! Fabricworm is even kitting a version of her quilt–it can be found HERE! HERE is a link to Jamie’s website.
