I have FOUR throw size Mae/Marcella quilts to bind. A normal person would totally machine bind the lot, but I’m a glutton for punishment and am opting to hand bind. Something about the slow stitching is really therapeutic to me right now. I might regret this!

I’m slowly getting back into the quilting groove

I’m slowly getting back into the quilting groove and (impatiently) waiting for this one to arrive after being quilted. And as I’m typing this, I am realizing that this photo is upside down. The HSTs are supposed to be facing the other way. I guess it’s just par for the course today; I tried to put deodorant on my toothbrush today, so there’s that.

The Mae blocks are a mix of some of my favorite fabrics, colors, and textures. I really love the diagonal stripe effect that Mae has when assembled. I really can’t decide which is my favorite—curves or HSTs. Which version do you prefer?

I think this quilt top made it a whole 11 seconds taped to the wall before crashing to the floor. I believe that’s 4 seconds longer than last time?! Anyway. I know, I know. I know what you’re thinking. “Wren Collective has a new pattern and it involves curves?! Yaaaaay. Shocker.” Well, the answer is yes. Yes AND no. Hence the reason for the double pattern release next month—one version involves curves, one does not. But...might I add: the curves are worth it.

I usually land firmly in team neutral/muted tones, but these quilts are fun, have a lot going on, and are perfect for some bright + bold colors.
