It is officially week four of the Aftershock sew along! I have really enjoyed seeing all of your progress over on Instagram. This week is a pretty speedy process: row assembly!
If you’re just joining in, welcome! Click here for the week one blog post, here for the week two blog post, and here for the week three blog post.

Nesting seams
One tip I have when assembling your row is to nest your seams. (If you prefer to press your seams open no matter what, then just disregard these instructions).
Nesting seams, simply put, is pressing the seams of each row in the opposite direction. Use the graphic below as a visual reference. The pink arrows along the left hand side indicate which direction each row's seams should be pressed.
Doing this makes quilt top assembly (coming in week six of the sew along) a breeze because the seams "nest", or butt up against each other, nicely. This ensures that seams line up nicely.
Week Four Prizes
This week, THREE prizes are up for grabs! As a reminder, to be entered to win these prizes you just need to post a photo of your Aftershock progress (no matter where you are! I'm usually super behind during sew alongs, ha) using the hashtag AftershockSA before 11:59CST on Sunday, August 29, 2021. The winner will be announced in my Instagram stories (winner will be tagged) on Monday, August 30.
Maechen Marie has donated her fabulous magnets. I own a set of her magnets, and they are the coolest part of my entire refrigerator. (Well, maybe it's a tie between the magnets and the Kirkland margaritas inside).
Ollie Fabrics has donated this super cool bundle of 12 fat quarters--the perfect addition to any quilter's stash! (Add two more FQ and you have a really cool bundle to make a Tail Feather quilt or add one more FQ to make a Rainbow Falls!)
Bhiravi of Strawberry Creek Quilts has donated a PDF copy of her newest pattern, Redwood Coast. I have this quilt on my "to-make" list. It's a good one!
If you're not already familiar with these fabulous women, please go give them a follow! They are all such an inspiration to me.
A Look Ahead
The Aftershock sew along is beginning to wind down, believe it or not! This week is row assembly, next week is our catch up week (where you can catch up, take a week off, or work ahead...it's choose your own adventure)!
After that, it is time to sew the rows together to form a completed Aftershock quilt. I cannot wait to see all of your completed tops!
The Longarm League has graciously offered to extend a 20% off edge-to-edge quilting deal to all completed Aftershock quilt tops sent in by the end of November 2021. I will link the page below to get more information on that. I will definitely be taking advantage of that for my top!
More information on the Longarm League quilting discount can be found here.
Have a great week, friends! I hope you enjoy sewing these blocks into rows. I know I enjoyed it earlier this afternoon. I even had a very cute assistant to help me out. "Help". 😉
